Hair dryer / Blow dryer

Hair dryerA hairdryer, is an electrical device designed to blow cool or hot air over wet or damp hair, in order to accelerate the evaporation of water particles and dry the hair. The usage of blow dryers also allows bettering controlling the shape of the hair in the process of styling, by accelerating and controlling the formation of temporary hydrogen bonds inside the hair.

These hydrogen bonds are very powerful (allowing for stronger hair management and styling.) but are temporary and extremely vulnerable to humidity, so that they entirely disappear with a single washing of the hair.

Blow dryers were invented around the end of the 19th century, being dependent on heat generation and mechanical air flow in order to be effective. The handheld, household hair-dryer first appeared in the 1920’s. Most used coils of wire that had quite a large electric sensitivity which heat rapidly as current flows through them. A fan usually blows ambient air past the hot coils and the air is heated as a result.

Hairstyles using blow dryers usually have volume and discipline, and can be further improved by the use of brushes during drying to add tension, and also the use of styling products.

Hair Straighteners

Less expensive brands of hair straighteners do not have ceramic heating elements. Some may have ceramic plates when in reality have only a paint-like coating on the plates to give the appearance of a more expensive pair of ceramic straighteners.

The cheaper models do more damage to the hair and are less effective. Higher quality irons, such as those used in salons, use true ceramic coated plates and ceramic heaters for full heat up in as little as 10 seconds. The use of tourmaline being crushed into irons and other hair appliances generates many negative ions which have positive effects on hair.

A number of products may be used to stop the hair from drying out when it is straightened. Straightening may cause split ends and thinning of the hair. It may also make the hair look damaged and unhealthy after long periods of use. Hair straighteners should only be used on dry hair, unless they are specially made with vents to let the moisture out.

Hair straighteners can be found in many stores. Some work well, but can usually damage hair. The straighteners that do not damage hair may cost a deal of money. These straighteners are usually used by hair stylists and are known as GHD’s (good hair day).
